The Chowder Chronicles: A Day at The Ramp
The messages have been flooding in lately. Everyone wants to know the same thing: “When are we going to go get the chowder?” Well, I hear you, I read the comments, and today is finally the day. We are in San Francisco, and we’re heading straight to a legendary spot in the Dogpatch: The Ramp.
A Little Bit of History
If you aren’t familiar with The Ramp, you’re missing out on a piece of San Francisco soul. This place is a classic. Back in the days of Web 1.0 and 2.0—all the way through the evolution of the city—this was the place to be. It’s where the party happened. Whether it was dancing late into a Saturday night or enjoying those slow Sunday mornings with a mimosa in hand, The Ramp has always been the heart of the waterfront. It’s located right by Bayfront Park, and stepping onto the patio feels like stepping into a story that’s been told since 1983.
The Spread
We didn’t come here just to look at the view, though. We came to eat. We put in a serious order to make sure we covered all the bases:
- The Main Event: Clam Chowder
- The Supporting Cast: Fish tacos, calamari, and fresh oysters.
The calamari came out first, and it was exactly what you’d hope for—perfectly fried and flavorful. Then came the oysters. A little squeeze of lemon, a quick slurp, and man… absolutely incredible. There is something about eating fresh seafood right by the water that just hits different.
The Verdict
Finally, the moment arrived: the chowder. I’ve been waiting for this, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It’s rich, savory, and exactly the kind of comfort food you need when you’re hanging out by the bay.
Between the fish tacos, the oysters, and that soup, we practically ran through the best of the menu. If you ever find yourself in the city, you owe it to yourself to drop by. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a San Francisco institution.
Until the next bite!
